Amid growing speculation linking him with a move away from his club, it has been revealed that Belgian star Hazard has confirmed he will not be extending his contract beyond the time it will expire. This has put a number of top European clubs on high alert for his signature.
Sporting Director of Borussia Monchengladbach, Max Eberl, made this known on Wednesday, stating that the former Chelsea man is keen to leave the club this summer in order to get on a higher level.
“Thorgan [Hazard] has informed us that he doesn’t want to extend his contract and that he wants to leave the club in the summer to take the next step,” Eberl stated in news that would leave the club saddened.

The younger brother of Chelsea star, Eden Hazard, who is himself the subject of speculation linking him with a move away from Stamford Bridge, has become the target of Premier League title contenders, Liverpool, according to reports.
However, it is understood that the younger Hazard, who was part of Belgium’s squad which finished third at the last FIFA World Cup held in Russia last year, would prefer a move to Monchengladbach’s Bundesliga arch-rivals, Borussia Dortmund.
Monchengladbach would hate for such a move to become reality, even though there are reports originating from Belgian publication, Nieuwsblad, which claims that Dortmund have tabled a £36 million bid for the 26-year-old.
That amount would be a £30 million profit for Hazard, who joined the Bundesliga side from Chelsea in 2015 for £6 million.
Other than Dortmund, Liverpool are thought to be interested in bringing Hazard back to the Premier League and are understood to be willing to pay more than the £36 million offered by the Black and Yellows, according to Nieuwsblad.
News about Thorgan Hazard comes after the German Bundesliga side and head coach Dieter Hecking revealed just over a week ago that both parties will go their separate ways at the end of the season.
Hecking’s decision to leave his post at the end of this season is said to have been a strategic decision according to Monchengladbach’s Sporting Director, with Eberl adding that the move had nothing to do with the club’s form in the Bundesliga.
