Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has said that Gikomba market isn’t ordinary as cartels are trying to steal the land.

Taking to his  Facebook on Wednesday morning, wondered why politicians are silent on the case.

He recalls when he was arrested over hate speech when he raised the issue on the land.,

“5 years ago, I said that the Gikomba bombing was not an ordinary act of terror, “I was arrested and charged with incitement. I battled that case for 3 years before being acquitted. Since then, Gikomba has been razed countless times,” he posted on his Facebook page.

According to an eye witness, flames broke out at around 4 am on Line 42, near the bridge.

The inferno razed stalls with shoes and apparel, with tens of traders waking up to the sting of huge losses.

By 6 am, several emergency teams including firefighters from the Nairobi City County were battling to put out the flames.

“The fire engines arrived here in time but took long before starting to put out the fire. The delays showed that they were amateurs. If they were swift, we could have salvaged some of our properties,” said Mr. Abdulaziz Kioko, a trader.

Early last year president Uhuru Kenyatta had had requested Nairobi county government to seek the alternative solution to the problems.
