Although Manchester United need a huge summer transfer window in terms of signing new players, there is still work to be done to keep ahold of current stars.
On that list is Marcus Rashford, whose current deal expires in 2020. However, in an exclusive from the Daily Mirror, it is being claimed that the 21-year-old is ‘closing in’ on a staggering new contract, worth a huge £78million.
Apparently, Rashford would be put on a similar wage to what Wayne Rooney earned before he left Old Trafford; around £300,000-a-week. With the Wythenshawe-born-forward then set to be under contract until 2024, thus United would be securing his long-term future in the process.
The money in football these days is truly mad. I love Rashford, don’t get me wrong, but he’s nowhere near the finished article and even this contract would run out when he’s only 26. I’d dread to think what sort of money he’d be after when this proposed deal eventually comes to an end!
For now, though, Rashford should focus on his football. There’s ample time over the summer to sort out new contracts and the like. As the song goes, he’s Manc born and bred and I’m sure both parties will come to some sort of arrangement sooner rather than later.
