Future ‘Not Yet Decided’- Agent On Mata’s Liverpool ‘Option’ In The Summer

Juan Mata’s contract at Manchester United is up at the end of the season and, if the club’s new offer isn’t accepted by the midfielder, he’ll be free to move on.

Speaking about his son’s options in the summer, the Spaniard’s father has ruled out Liverpool and Man City as possible destinations.

“Manchester United have offered to renew us, we are very happy,” he told Cadena SER – as per TeamTalk. “But there are proposals from Champions League teams.

“Spain, maybe, but today is not the day to talk, it is not yet decided. [City] would not be the ideal option. There are two options that do not [appeal] … Liverpool and City.

“We have to respect the Manchester United fans, he is held very dear here.”

I’m sure Reds fans will be just as surprised by this news as City and United supporters. It’s interesting though that Arsenal and Spurs haven’t been ruled out.

I know he’s got nothing to do with us, but it’d be nice to see Mata re-join Valencia. I enjoyed watching him there and was excited when we was linked with a move to Anfield.
