Why Liverpool Defender Chose to Vote For Sizzling Man City Winger

This season’s PFA player of the year award seems to be contested between Liverpool and Manchester City players yet again.

Last season, Kevin de Bruyne and Mohamed Salah were the pair fighting to be named the finest player in England’s top-tier for the campaign.

This time around, it looks as if Virgil van Dijk and Raheem Sterling will be contesting the coveted accolade.

They have been instrumental for their respective sides, with Van Dijk the key man in changing Liverpool’s leaky defence into arguably the sturdiest in Europe.

The Reds have conceded just 20 goals all season, the lowest total in the league, while Sterling’s 15 goals and nine assists have been key to City keeping pace with Liverpool in the title race.

And it turns out Van Dijk himself is a big fan of the English winger and has declared that he has voted for Sterling to win the PFA Player of the Year.

Of course, players can not vote for members of their own teams.

“I think I could have voted for Bernardo Silva as well and another couple of players from Manchester City, but I am just being honest.

Sadly for Van Dijk, Sterling has apparently voted for England teammate Harry Kane to win the award.

The Dutchman, though, is a class act and the way he conducts himself on and off the pitch is simply fantastic.

Few defenders have ever been as dominant in the Premier League and he would be a worthy winner of the PFA Player of the Year.

Only Sterling, or maybe even Eden Hazard, stand in his way.
