Moi University School of Medical sixth year student was on Tuesday morning murdered in cold blood and in broad daylight by an outsider alleged to be her boyfriend and he campus.
Using an hand axe, the alleged man hit her on the head and tried escaping but was caught by Bodaboda operators outside Moi Teaching and Referral Hospitals (MTRH).
Moi University Vice Chancellor Isaac Kosgey confirmed the incident. “It is indeed a sad day. We are working with the security personnel to unravel the truth,” he said.
The VC asked the student to remain calm and as the institution tries to contact the family of the deceased. He at the same time asked the student to take an afternoon off to mourn their colleague.
Prof. Kosgey promised to meet the student at the college of health science to discuss matters of accommodation and their security at the campus on Wednesday.
