Not all heroes wear caps, some double up as watchmen.

It goes without saying that Kenyan politicians are used to giving out promises to their voters only to fail to deliver once in office.

Some of the promises include better health services, employment opportunities and improvements as far as infrastructure such as good roads are concerned.

However, most of them do not deliver on their promises, leaving voters a disenfranchised lot. It is because of such disappointments that some Kenyans decide to do some of the things they were promised by politicians on their own.

Nicholas Muchemi Kamau from Kaganda village in Murarandia, Murang’a county is not an exception.

The hardworking man recently touched many hearts after taking it upon himself to help fellow area residents by single-handedly carving a road through a hill to enable people move from one point to the other without much hassle.

Muchemi embarked on the arduous task of ‘creating’ the road after a neighbour closed a foot-path that passed through his farm and which was being used by locals.

According to another resident identified as Philip Kinyungu Nyambura who was among the first people to post the man’s pictures on social media, the philanthropic villager spent about a week to dig up one kilometer of the road through a hilly terrain.

Phillip added that Muchemi thought it wise to make the road after residents started complaining of using a longer route to get to their destination.

The man and modern day hero works as a watchman at Kaganda Primary School.

Many Kenyans commended his true leadership skills, effort and selflessness in the comment section:

Essa Khason That only could have costed Kenyan government 10m.
