What Sonko saw in Ann Mvurya that compelled him to chase her

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko saw two unique things in the first female chairperson of the University Of Nairobi Students Association (UNSA), Anne Mvurya.

On Sunday, Sonko hosted the lady just a day after she won the coveted seat and praised Anne’s beauty and brains.

“My compliments to my sister and friend Ann Mwangi Mvuria for being elected as the chairperson of University of Nairobi Students Association (UNSA).

Ms Ann Mwangi Mvurya is sworn in as the new

“Ann becomes the first female student with beauty and brains in the history of student’s leadership in Kenya to be elected in this position,” wrote Sonko.

The governor also shared photos of himself with Ann and perhaps foreseeing naughty comments, sought to point out that all women are beautiful.

“Let me pre-empt all your bad comments by saying all women are pretty,” he wrote.

Below is a brief video of their meeting

Ms Mwangi is a law student at the university and managed to garner 24 votes against her closest competitors eight votes.

She was elected by an electoral college in line with the 2016 Universities Amendment Bill signed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The electoral colleges are constituted by grouping the students into either academic department, school or faculty blocks.

Some Kenyans on social media, however, criticised Sonko for praising Anne’s beauty arguing that everyone is beautiful.
