Deputy President William Ruto is a man known for speaking out his mind and decisions no matter how the situation may look tricky. But that is not the case anymore. His silence over Huduma Namba has raised questions among his supporters who were waiting for him to declare his stand and give directions.

Ruto who was conspicuously missing from last week’s launch across different parts of the country has decided to take a low profile on the matter. This could be viewed as a sign of silent displeasure from the vocal Deputy President who rarely keeps silent on matters affecting the nation.

Last week the deputy president was expected to launch the exercise in Kakamega simultaneously with other national leaders. Ruto, on his part, skipped the function in Kakamega where he was to launch the Huduma Namba and register for the same citing his meeting with the Cuban Vice President as the main reason.

However after this, Ruto never bothered to go and register for the namba raising eyebrows. Since it was Uhuru (his boss) who spearheaded the exercise, Ruto obviously decided to remain silent in order to avoid confrontations with the President.

As a wise politician, Ruto played his cards very well in order to avoid public criticism especially from his political enermies who could have portrayed him as an enemy of progress in every sector.

In case there will be some problems or mischievous deeds associated with the Namba in the future, Ruto will definitely unhook himself easily since he never advocated for such registrations.

Many of Ruto’s supporters have been faced with confusion, some taking to social media to call upon the DP to give them the appropriate direction.

Ruto’s critics are slowly beginning to sense danger and even tempted to ask questions on Ruto’s silence. Over the weekend, Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli publicly challenged Ruto to declare his stand on the Huduma Namba.

“The Tangatanga team has not told people to get Huduma Namba. Rift Valley residents say they are waiting for Ruto to give them the go ahead. Let him declare his stand on this Huduma Namba. If he doesn’t like it he should come out and tell us why,” Atwoli stated.

“I am specific on the DP and I know he will not answer but that will not stop me from asking him. Was this registration discussed at the cabinet level where he takes collective responsibility. And wasn’t it launched by his boss President Kenyatta. Do you support it or you don’t Mr Deputy President?” lawyer Wahome Thuku wrote on Facebook.

“I and my family are waiting for Ruto to give us a way forward on this Huduma number. If he doesn’t give okay! then we won’t register!!” Sheikh Shaaban wrote on Twitter.
