A few weeks ago, during a campaign rally in Ugenya, Siaya Senator James Orengo made headlines when he said he would introduce a motion in Parliament to impeach DP William Ruto.
Orengo said that the country cannot move on with a man who is mentioned in every corruption scandal in the second highest office on land.
A few days later, someone asked Ugenya residents not to vote for David Ochieng because the elections was a William Ruto vs Raila Odinga affair.
On Saturday, Ruto was congratulating the David Ochieng for winning the Ugenya by-elections.
Orengo and ODM had given Ruto a win, a win he didn’t ask for. Sources within the ODM party are now blaming the veteran politician for the bitter loss.
Orengo is accused of imposing the unpopular ODM candidate in the name of Chris Karan instead of the winner David Ochieng. Ochieng worked at Orengo’s law firm but they parted ways in unclear circumstances.
Ochieng won the elections on an ODM party in 2013 but fell out with the party in 2017 after being accused of being a Jubilee mole.
Some people within ODM also unfairly accused him of being involved in the murder of Chris Msando. He was not allowed to attend Msando’s burial ceremony.
He lost the election to Chris Karan in 2017 but appealed loss at the High Court which nullified the elections.
