Ruto puts teachers on notice for hiking school fees

Deputy President William Ruto has put teachers on notice over hiking school fes.

The Deputy President William Ruto mentioned that there has to be some level of equality when it comes to education.

He also added that in order for equality between the rich and the poor to be achieved, there is a need for all the young people  to have an equal access to education.

“Ili Kuweka usawa, ili kuwe na usawa kati ya mtoto wa Rais na wa Naibu wa Rais na boda boda, lazima watoto wote waende shule wasomena hivyo ndivyo tutakavyondoa tofauti hii kati ya watu maskini na tajiri” he said

Ruto says that the nation has to  get to a point where a President’s son will be on the same level with a boda boda rider and grocery seller.

The DP also said that he was aware of some schools that send students away in the name of not paying up a lunch fee.

Ruto gave a warning to the teachers saying that if a parent has not paid lunch fee, the student should still be allowed to attend their classes.

The Deputy Governor maintains that there is a different between lunch fee and education fee.

He insisted that students should never be sent home for the lunch fee excuse because the government has catered for their studies payment.

According to the report by a local media station, the Deputy Governor put teachers on notice saying that they will be fired if at all they pull such excuses on school going children.
