David Ochieng’s Victory in the Just concluded Ugenya by-elections might have been a blessing in disguise for both the ODM Party and it’s candidate Chris Karan.
Friday’s by-elections saw David Ochieng of Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) ticket emerge Victorious with his 18,730 votes pushing him to the top.
Raila’s candidate, Christoper Karan (Orange Democratic Movement) emerged second with 14,507 votes.
Should Chris Karan of ODM have won the hotly contested Parliamentary seat, Voters in Ugenya constituency would have been faced with a possible round another of by-election following legal proceedings that DPP Noordin Haji has ordered against the ODM candidate Chris Karan.
The Director of Public Prosecution Nooordin Haji had approved the prosecution of ODM candidate for Ugenya
Karan who was embroiled in a tight race with David Ochieng had cast his vote at Bar Uninge primary school in Ugenya constituency when he was slapped with the sad news.
Sources say even if he would have won, Ochieng was also likely to institute criminal proceedings privately against Karan.
He was accused of forging a letter used in his election petition.
The politician is in panic mode following the latest development from the EACC and is pointing accusing fingers at his political rival
The Supreme Court of Kenya had on December 2018 nullified Karan’s election and ordered the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to conduct fresh elections in the constituency.
