Dress down for Mr Odinga as Unknown Party humiliates ODM in Ugenya

David Ochieng, the new Ugenya MP

ODM leader Raila Odinga suffered a huge blow after unknown political party humiliated him at Ugenya by election held on Friday.

David Ochieng of a Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) ticket won the seat with 18,730 votes pushing him to the top.

Raila’s candidate, Christoper Karan (Orange Democratic Movement) emerged second with 14,507 votes.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Acting CEO Marjan Hussein lauded Ugenya residents for their patience despite sporadic KIEMS kits failure in parts of the county.

According to him, there was high voter turn out at 58 percent.

Karan lost the Ugenya seat on March 1 last year after the High Court ruled that the election was not free and fair.

Karan then moved to the Court of Appeal which overturned the nullification of his election on August 16.

However, a persistent Ochieng lodged another appeal at the country’s top court which again dealt a blow to Karan.

Jubilee politicians led by Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichugwa has cogratulated the MP for the landslide win in the by election.

The MP accused James Orengo of misleading Raila Odinga while else lodge impeachment motion against the DP.

Kimani said ODM was focused on their evil schemes of vigilante justice and politics of division.

“Senator Orengo the former MP Ugenya was busy plotting how to impeach a Deputy President, but couldn’t deliver a Single Parliamentary Seat in his village,”he said.

ODM Secretary general Edwin Sifuna has said that that the party is greatful to the loyalist.

He said that they have learnt a lesson and they shouldnt complain but strategize for the future.
