During his State-of-the-nation Address, President Kenyatta sent a strong message to public officials implicated in looting of public resources for selfish gains.
The bitter Uhuru said a lifestyle audit, prosecutions, and severing ties will be carried out to stop corrupt officials
“No individual will get away with embezzling public resources. Everyone who has pocketed funds meant for development must be held accountable. We have invested in the development of this nation, not for self-gain.”he said.
“The ongoing prosecutions will not be limited to senior public servants who betrayed their Oaths of Office but also their accomplices in the private sector, including those professionals who aid in the laundering of stolen public funds.”
Uhuru said there is no turning back in our quest to transform the national economy to become truly an engine for creating jobs and opportunities for Kenyans.
Devolution remains one of the novelties of our new constitutional Order. Since April 2013, more than 1.7 Trillion Shillings have been transferred to the Counties.
“Devolution has received the full and firm support of my Administration, and, together with an enabling and supportive Parliament, we have seen it transform lives, revive local economies, and bring service delivery closer to the people,” remarked Kenyatta.
“In 2019, we expect an even stronger growth of 6.3 percent, reflecting continued improvement in the business environment, momentum associated with execution of the Big Four Agenda, and sustained macroeconomic stability,” he added.
