Fireworks are expected in parliament when President Uhuru Kenyatta delivers his State of the Nation Address, with some people saying a few big names are set to be fired.

On top of the list is Treasury CS Henry Rotich, who is at the center of the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal. Rotich is a close ally of William Ruto, who has continuously claimed that he is being targeted in the corruption fight.

Last week, the president met surprise visit to his deputy’s Harambee Annex office, where he allegedly told him that to expect big heads to roll this week. Ruto was also told that the fight against corruption was nothing personal but a necessity.

CS Rotich will be the highest member of the Kalenjin community to sink in the purge against corruption since the handshake between Uhuru and Raila.

There was an uproar n Tuesday when the DP did not show up at a Huduma Namba event in Kakamega county. Rumors have it that Uhuru was not happy wondering how Ruto could tanga tanga to more than 5 events in a day but fail to show up at such a strategic even.

Sources within the Tanga Tanga team have also intimated to us that MPs allied to the DP are contemplating boycotting the State of the Nation Address. This has however not been confirmed.

Ruto enjoys the support of more than 100 MPs in both houses and it will be a major statement if they to boycott the address.

Even as this happens, President Uhuru Kenyatta is said to have personally called Raila, Kalonzo and Mudavadi on Wednesday to invite them for the State function.

A widening rift between President Kenyatta’s supporters and those of Mr Ruto is putting the country’s politics on a high-octane footing.

And things might blow up after Thursday’s event.
