Raila lectures disappointed kenyans on Uhuru’s duty

Head of state Uhuru Kenyatta delivered his much-awaited State of the Nation address at Parliament on Thursday, speaking strongly on matters including the war on graft, the Big Four agenda and the need for leaders to work together for the sake of national unity and development.

Kenyans however have expressed disappointment in the president not firing any corrupt officials.

In defense, while speaking to journalists outside Parliament, Raila stated that he was reading from the same script as the Head of State on matters fighting corruption.

He echoed the president’s sentiments calling for structure in how the investigations were carried out adding that it wasn’t the duty of the president to fire anybody.

“I agree with the president but we also need to move with speed in carrying out the investigations and prosecute corrupt individuals. The investigations and prosecution have to have an end and must be within the rule of law,” he stated.

However President Uhuru Kenyatta has fired Justice Joseph Mutava.Uhuru said he had revoked the judge’s appointment.

This was after the Supreme Court affirmed a decision by a tribunal that recommended his removal over gross misconduct.

“Today morning, I signed the instruments revoking the appointment of a High Court judge. This is the outcome undertaken within the framework of law,” he said.
