Missing sign interpreter might have livened Uhuru’s boring speech

President Uhuru Kenyatta has recognized Kenya’s Roy Allela – a young and ambitious 25-year-old technology enthusiast who invented smart gloves which convert sign language movements into audio speech.

During the State of the Nation address on Thursday, Uhuru said the young inventor among others have made Kenya proud and on a global map.

However, Kenyans were quick to note a missing fundamental part in the key address.

It was rather ironical to applaud a development for people living with disabilities yet their interests are not taken care of.

There was no sign language interpreter on the State of the Nation address that was beamed live on all National Televisions.

“Irony is when Nominated MP David Sankok who represents PWDs says the President loves pple with disability because he recognised the innovator of the gloves that translate sign language but misses the fact there was no sign language interpreter on the State of the Nation address.” noted political analyst David Makali.

Recently at the Devolution Conference in Kirinyaga, a sign language interpreter thrilled viewers by her enthusiasm and caused frenzy on the internet.

Do you think presence of the interpreter would have livened the speech
