According to reports, Manchester United have entered the race to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez.
Last month, reports claimed that Manchester City is closing in on a move for Saul, with Pep Guardiola viewing the 24-year-old as a long-term successor to Fernandinho.
But ESPN now reports that City is instead targeting Rodri Hernandez, who plays alongside Saul at Atletico.
And United are now preparing to make a move for Saul in the summer window as they view him as a ‘good fit’ to play alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.

United are set to be in the market for a new central midfielder this summer as they face the prospect of losing Ander Herrera on a free transfer. Earlier this week, reports claimed that the Spanish midfielder has a pre-contract agreement with Paris Saint-Germain and will join the French champions in the summer.
