Mombasa businessmen are in panick after a Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) swoop netted an outlawed secessionist group in Kwale, and found incriminating transaction funding records.
For a long time, police have been trying to connect the dots on businessmen funding the outlawed group that seeks to secede coastal Kenya from the rest of the country.
During the impromptu Tuesday swoop, DCI officers armed-to-the-teeth stormed Kibundani area in Kwale
Incriminating evidence
Police officers announced that they were able to recover crucial evidence in the form of a register and a ledger book that had a list of monetary contributions
“The suspects were nabbed as they assembled at a house in Kibundani area. Membership registers and contributions were confiscated,” the DCI revealed in a tweet.
Elderly suspects
According to the DCI, the suspects were tagged as aged between 41-84 years and were set to be arraigned in court on Wednesday.
The latest arrest follows a similar swoop late in 2018 where more than 40 suspected members of the outlawed gang were arrested in Likoni, Mombasa County.
