With all controversies that has come with Huduma number, Former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo has given his candid advise to the government on the registration saying the country should not be burdened by the high costs.

“Give Huduma Namba to a kid at birth. This should not cost billions of shillings,” he said.
Midiwo further added that some individuals in the government have been opposing the move saying the “beneficiaries of the skewed census are out to fight NIIMS.”
The former vocal legislator reiterated that the protection of the citizens’ data is a mandate of the government through proper laws.
“Data protection is an issue of legislation and should include public participation,” noted Midiwo.
The Huduma Namba roll out was opposed by a section of human rights group.
The High Court on Monday gave the government a go-ahead to roll out the program but restrained it from collecting citizens’ DNA and GPS coordinates.
According to Midiwo,” the court had conscience in making this decision,” yesterday.
The National Integrated Identification Management System (NIIMS) is meant to increase efficiency, the speed of delivery, better utilisation of public resources, reduce wastage, and gatekeeping according to the government.
