Narok named the best County in Revenue Collection

Narok County has emerged top in the latest data collected by the Controller of Budget Office as the top revenue collector in the Own Source Revenue (OSR) collection.

The county was followed by Samburu and Isiolo Counties in the data, which was done in the first half of the year 2018/19 recorded an overall improvement with Narok topping the list at 74.1 per cent, Samburu (68.7 per cent) and Isiolo (57.8 per cent).

“During the reporting period, county governments generated a total of Ksh15.37 billion, which was 29.9 percent of the annual target.

“This was an increase of 54.5 percent compared to Ksh9.95 billion generated in a similar period of the financial year 2017/18, which was 18.1 percent of the annual revenue target” COB stated.

In the period of July-December 2018, Narok had a revenue collection of Ksh1.84 billion against a target of 2.48 billion, Samburu 174.4 million against 254.03 million and Isiolo87.25million against 150.86 million.

The analysis of the OSR also indicated the worst performing Counties in revenue collection.

Kisii emerged top at 12.7 percent, Wajir at 13.1 percent and Kericho at 13.5 percent against the annual targets that had been set for them.

The annual revenue target for Counties in the year 2018/19 is Ksh51.32 billion.
