You’re betraying your role!! Isaac Ruto tells former PM as he calls for referendum

The handshake between the President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Premier Raila Odinga brought a new dawn into the Kenyan politics which has left a mark in the opposition itself and the reigning side.

It is on this basis that many think that the opposition has long stopped doing or playing its role in governance as the opposition, the revelations that we were used to hear from the opposition have long stopped being heard especially at the wake of the corrupt accusations that are taking the nation at a strong wave.

Former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has told off Opposition leader Raila Odinga saying he is betraying his role.

The Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) party leader said despite the calls for national unity between leaders, the government should be checked and advised accordingly.

“We are of the opinion that this country should be united and Kenyans embrace each other socially and economically, the only issue is that we are used to being monitored to serve in a given office,” he added.

He insisted that Odinga should hold the government accountable.

At the same time, he accused some of the legislators allied to Deputy President William Ruto of being disrespectful towards the President and other institutions including the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution.

Following the continuous debate on a referendum, he proposed that only a section of the constitution be amended.

According to him, this will enable opposition leaders such as Odinga, Martha Karua, Kalonzo Musyoka to be allowed to vie for parliamentary seats.
