Turkana County has introduced an agricultural bill with the aim of attaining food security as well as boosting the entire sector.
Yesterday, county officials together with stakeholders held a meeting to discuss the Turkana County Agriculture Bill,2019.
The bill seeks to provide a roadmap for the growth and Development of Agriculture within the county .
If it becomes law ,it will bridge existing gaps on Agricultural Production and Productivity ,Irrigation Agriculture, and Crop protection against Pest and Diseases.
The bill will also address issues on engagement between the county government and private Sectors among many other agricultural sectors that are geared towards attaining food security.
The county officials informed that the public participation forums to source input on the Bill will be held from next week.
This bill comes at a time where deliberations are being made to seek a permanent solution for the ongoing drought in the county.
