Relief in Kajiado as Keen Comes to the aid of Hunger Victims!

As the drought continues to bite many parts of the country, one unknown Kajiado county politician has come out to donate foodstuffs and water to his countymen.

While making distributions to Esonoorua residents of Kajiado west sub County on Saturday, Anthony Keen called on the National and County government to donate food to Kajiado County residents.

Keen who donated food and water to around 700 people said the drought has affected many people in the region.

He said part of Sh 2 billion budget for drought should be channeled to Kajiado county. Keen noted that the region has been ignored for long and this has led to advance suffering.

He added that the county government should ensure there is a permanent solution on water crisis in the county.

“They are concentrating more in Turkana, these people have nothing to eat, they should do something since they know what is happening,” he said.

He also called on well-wishers to give water tanks so that he may supply water for free in the area from water points built by Global Worship Centre, Kiserian led by Bishop James Turere.

Bishop Turere said the residents walk several kilometres to get clean water. He said donkeys that used to transport water for the locals have died due to drought, hence women were unable to walk for long distance while men are busy looking for pasture for their livestock.

He said he has been involved in water projects in the region and the commodity is so important to the locals.

Retired senior chief Ole Nkaka said the government should construct a dam in the area and start irrigation projects in order to support locals to be able to feed themselves.
