Why Kabogo’s factor 2022 succession matrix can’t be ignored

The debate on the who is fit to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta 2022 from mount Kenya region is giving locals an extreme headache.

According to many,the region will have one of their own at the whelm of the top government structure whether as the president or deputy president.

At stake about four leaders are fronted to take over as a regional supremo, William Kabogo Gitau ,Francis Kimemia ,Mwangi Wairia and Peter Kenneth.

The scheme to succeed Uhuru involves an realignments that are slowly shaking the ruling Jubilee Coalition with political brokers seeking a person of character who is brave and has a financial muscle.

Among the 4 individuals listed,the Gema power brokers feels that either Kabogo or peter Kenneth who has the muscle to propel the region to the height of development.

Kabogo is viewed as the key candidate who can work with anyone either as deputy or as the president.

Analyst argue that both Kabogo and Ruto can properly work together.

The two Williams – William Samoei Ruto and William Gitau Kabogo. William Ruto has immense influence in the ruling party whilst the flamboyant William Kabogo enjoys support of his Mount Kenya backyard. 

Kimani Mwangi a political analysts states that Majority of Kenyans feels Kabogo is the right choice to represent the community affairs despite numerous call by different spire for Peter Kenneth to work with opposition leader Raila Odinga.

“Kabogo factor is important in the Mt Kenya political equation and he is among key politicians to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta, “he said adding those behind the game plan feel that Mr Kabogo is brave and could handle Mr Ruto well to ensure the region’s interests are taken care off.

He adds that Kabogo’s royalty to the community is supreme and his transformational record when he was the governor Kiambu County.

Mr Kenneth’s main task will involve redeeming his lost political glory after his dismal performance in the recent 2017 poll election while also he has been termed as a spoiler as he ran against president Uhuru in 2013 election.

Analysts and political brokers in the region views that Kabogo’s financial muscle and prominence is a factor for consideration as less resources will be incurred to sell his brand.

Recently at local television interview, the former governor said that he will team up with likeminded Kenyans to bring the much needed change in the Country.

He dispelled rumors that the Mount Kenya leaders aren’t united, urging those elected to concentrate on serving “Wanjiku” rather than the politics of 2022.  

Regional balancing will also come into play, with Meru, Murang’a, Embu and Kirinyaga having stood with central Kenya (Kiambu and Nyeri) for long and now saying it is their time to produce a leader.

Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri, Governor Kiraitu Murungi and Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui are also viewed as a potential candidate for 2022.

Section of Rift valley politicians are worried the region will not honour the 2013 pact agreement.
