[VIDEO] KU Students Welcome Museveni with Bobi Wine Chants

Uganda President Yoweri Museveni received a huge surprise when he visited Kenyatta University on Friday afternoon. The comrades welcomed the President’s convoy with chants of Bobi Wine! Bobi Wine! Bobi Wine!

Bobi Wine, the firebrand Ugandan rapper who is also the Kyadondo East MP is seen as threat to the President’s hold on power.

On 13th August last year, Bobi Wine was arrested Uganda’s northwestern town of Arua, accused of throwing stones at a presidential convoy during the campaign for a vacant seat in parliament.

The politician was later charged with treason after being tortured in a military barracks. He  has emerged as a formidable threat to Museveni’s 32-year rule, winning popular support through his music and strong criticism of the government.

Museveni is also on the spot for detaining former Makerere University lecturer cum activist Dr. Stella Nyanzi.

Stella has been in custody since November last year for allegedly insulting the President’s mother on Facebook. Kenyan activists had urged Kenyatta University comrades to heckle Museveni.

And it seems the student listened as they booed Museveni throughout his speech.
