ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru has appointed Naim Bilal as the new KBC Managing Director.
Prior to this appointment, he served as Information Secretary as the ICT Ministry and was Willy Mutunga’s communications lead when he served as Chief Justice.
Bilal was also the head of graft ridden Govt Advertising Agency, and former news editor and head of TV at Nation Media Group.
He succeeds Waithaka Waihenya who served for six years until 2017.He takes over a state-owned national broadcaster that has a litany of challenges, ranging from low morale among the workforce and debts amounting to billions of shillings.
Most of the outlets under the broadcasting house stable are at their lowest in terms of ratings for listener and viewership, with majority staffers agitating for better terms of service, better facilitation and improved working conditions.
Bilal, nè Nicho Makau, leaves the Kenya News Agency which he headed after his appointment as the director of information in the ministry of information.
