A new twist to the investigation of Kiru Principal Solomon Mwangi has emerged after an investigative officer attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has placed the wife of Mwangi at the murder scene.
Clement Mwangi told the court that there had been constant communication between Jane Muthoni, her co-accused and the deceased before and after the murder.
Mobile phone data analysis was presented in court on Thursday implicating Muthoni, Isaac Ng’anga and Joseph Kariuki.
Kariuki is currently a State witness in the case and his statement corroborated with the phone data from the DCI.
He had been sentenced to one year to manslaughter after pleading guilty in March 2017.
Kariuki expressed remorse to the court claiming that his actions were motivated by the money he was offered by the wife to the deceased: Muthoni.
Peter Kipkurui Kipyegon, now 19, has pleaded guilty killing his father over land dispute two years ago at Seguton Location in Koibatek sub-county when he was 17 years old.
The suspect appeared before Kabarnet High Court Judge Edward Muriithi on Thursday.
“I agree that I committed the offence on the mentioned date,” he said while pleading for forgiveness from his clan elders and the family.
Prosecution counsel Esther Macharia told the court that the deceased, Wilson Kipyegon Kimetto, had been fencing the shamba when the accused confronted him.
Ms Macharia further stated that an argument arose between the two and the accused who was carrying a panga began chasing his father.
