Inside Governor Joho’s genius plan to improve the Mombasa City Standards

Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho is working closely with the county officials to improve the living standards of his people as well as the city.

This is through the ongoing Mombasa Regeneration Initiative which comprises of development of the Mama Ngina Waterfront and Jomo Kenyatta Public Beach.

The project will benefit the local community since it will serve as a recreation area for residents; create jobs for youth; spur interest & enhance the iconic landscape

It will also result in the wake of business opportunities because it will spur a 24-hour economy, facilitate open air/al fresco restaurants & cafés, the creation of FunPark & Water Sports.

The regeneration Initiative will also ease transportation and will allow the rearrangement of ferry area for more convenience & safety for tourists, aid in establishing order among matatus

Security in the city will also be boosted since its completion will ensure there is 24-hour security & the areas will be well lit at night to further enhance the security of the 24-hour economy

Project key features include, Paved boardwalk,1000-seat amphitheater, Kilindi Cultural Centre, 3 public squares, 5 designated pigeon nests, murals, ample public car parking space, 100 shops & 2 iconic gateways

The County government has confirmed that the project will be run by an independent body comprising of representatives from the private sector, National & County governments and the entry will be free of charge.
