Two Uasin Gishu county women politicians Margaret Kamar and Gladys Shollei have deserted deputy president William Ruto at the hour of need. The two won their seats courtesy of Ruto in 2017.

Kamar is the Uasin Gishu senator while Shollei is the women representative. As the DP is constantly coming under scathing attacks from left, right and centre by women leaders allied to ODM leader Raila Odinga, the two have kept silent raising eyebrows in the DP’s camp.

In fact, it has taken women leaders outside Kalenjin land to defend Ruto as his own sisters go silent with word that they are in a celebratory mood over his mounting political tribulations.

Kalenjin MPs allied to Ruto have accused Uhuru Kenyatta of a plot to stop construction of Kimwarer and Arror dams. The MPs – Daniel Rono (Keiyo South), Kangogo Bowen (Marakwet East), William Kisang (Marakwet West) and Elgeyo-Marakwet women representative, Jane Kiptoo, are defending Ruto to the hilt.

Apart from the two women leaders, Elgeyo – Marakwet governor Alex Tolgos is also happy with the political turmoil facing Ruto.
Tolgos was quoted saying:

“On behalf of the people of Elgeyo-Marakwet, we sincerely apologise to the head of state over political utterances by four MPs and a handful of MCAs purporting to be speaking on behalf of the people of this region on the ongoing investigations on corruptions”.

Tolgos has also defended the handshake between Uhuru and Raila as he is said to be enjoying the woes in which Kerio Valley Development Authority MD David Kimosop is currently facing since they do not see- eye-to-eye with each other, hence his support of dam investigations.
