Just months before the the coming in of Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni into Kenya, Uhuru and Raila’s handshake had blossomed and dominated the talks.
Many felt like the Deputy President William Ruto had been left out by the two hence being the soft target of the corruption fights being championed by Raila and Uhuru.
In unexpected turn of events, President Kenyatta on Tuesday made an impromptu visit to Dp Ruto’s office barely 0ne day before Musevni’s visit.
Although the details of the meeting still remains scarce, analysts are now joining the dots and evaluating the possibilities of president Museveni taking part in ‘restoring’ once blooming Uhuru, Ruto relationship.
According to Ruto affiliated analysts, President Uhuru was with Museveni a fortnight ago at Kigali. A week after, Museveni also hosted Ruto at Kampala. The Uhuruto’s Jubilee Rejuvenation Handshake happened hours before his visit for a reason, he may be behind it and the one who has been pushing it.
In an interesting view, the annalists observed that Museveni also went out of his way to convince the US Government to throw Raila under the bus in preference for William Ruto as Uhuru’s successor. If you remember, the March 9, 2018 handshake happened on the eve of US Secretary of State visit meaning Uhuru merely gave in to US pressure.
Tuesday’s handshake happened barely an hour after the new US Ambassador to Kenya visited Ruto’s office to deliver Trump’s message and later pledged to work with Dr. William Ruto in response to criticism from KOT.
Clearly, President Kenyatta at the urging of Museveni has abandoned the Handshake with Raila (who supported Hillary Clinton and his party is affiliated to Democrats) is now for Jubilee Unity and William Ruto Presidency in 2022.
With William Ruto’s recent invitation to the UK to deliver a speech at Chatham House, many of his annalists observe that this is a clear indication that this powerful nation is already impressed by Ruto’s way of politics and this could be a millage on his 2022 ambitions. The same has been deemed of China, France and Russia.
”Needless to say, President Museveni is a good friend of Kenya and the eldest statesman in East Africa and so when any of his younger brothers have issues, they can call on him for mediation or he can even take it upon himself to act.”
As matters stand, Museveni’s enemies Kizza Bisigye and Bobi Wine are both Raila’s friends. ”Museveni knows the more Raila entrenches himself around Uhuru in the name of Handshake the more Kizza Bisigye can count on Kenya to give him safe passage to pursue his agenda against NRM.” read the annalists
Museveni has never pretended to have any love lost on Raila. But now it is apparent he has taken it a step further to wager on Dr. William Ruto as the best President in 2022 for the sake Ugandan interests.
Raila’s possible Presidency in 2022 is Museveni’s nightmare because he knows Kizza Bisigye will easily find an ally in him.
