A gang broke into a Kericho church in Chepkurbet village within Ainamoi subcounty and made away with kitchen utensils and a Bible.

The burglary at Africa Gospel Church happened at around 9pm on Wednesday.

Ainamoi subcounty police commander Samson Gathuku said a report was made by a pastor from the church after which police visited the scene and launched investigations.

“The gang of thieves whose number we are yet to establish broke into the church office and stole one sufuria, cartons of glasses all valued at Sh7,000 and a New Testament Bible. They drove off with the stolen items in a white Toyota Probox motor vehicle which at the time had no number plates,” said Gathuku.

Police said the same gang proceeded to break into a shop in the neighborhood and stole items of unknown value.

Crime rate in Kericho is rising at an alarming rate. Just last month an old grand mother was killed while her three grand daughters gang raped and husband injured. The attackers robbed Sh. 5,000 and a mobile phone.
