Two former Siaya county officials and three others in connection with an irregular Sh22.5 million tender have been arrested by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers.
They include former county secretary Kepha Marube and former Supply Chain director Tobias Oloo; Arysterico Muhinda, who is the contractor for Mu-Salem Company Ltd; and company directors James Emondo and Felix Matibai.
The officials were charged with abuse of office through the improper award of the tender to Mu-Salem for construction of a prefabricated Sh22.5 million building.
They have also been charged with conspiracy to commit an offence of corruption.
Officials are accused of using their office to improperly confer a benefit on Mu-salem Company.
They were questioned and processed at the EACC Western Regional Office.
They are expected to be charged today at the Kisumu Anti-Corruption court.
