PHOTOS: Devolution CS, coastal leaders distribute relief food in Kilifi

Earlier today, Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa accompanied by Magarini MP Hon. Michael Kingi and CEC for Devolution Kilifi County Hon. Rachael Musyoki, distributed relief food to areas hit by drought in Kilifi.

They started the process in Bamba along with Ganze MP, Hon.Teddy Mwambire and the area MCA. Other areas reached are Chakama and Adu.

CS Eugene Wamalwa highlighted that drought and floods are the new normal phenomena that the nation should strive to tackle.

“What is happening&has been happening is that we shall be dealing with floods then get to drought &go round again.” he said

He also added that counties Emergency kitty acts as the first line of defence against any emergency.

Wamalwa applauded the decision by Kenya Governors of creating an emergency fund as a safety net of funds for emergency expenses drought mitigation.

He further urged for increased funding to emergency funds by all counties as stipulated under Public Finance Management Act

Other coastal areas that were targeted in this distribution of relief food include Kwale County.
