Orengo gets a back in his plans to impeach Ruto

Siaya Senator James Orengo on Sunday said that he was going to sponsor a motion to impeach Deputy President William Ruto.

His remarks were received with different reactions from leaders, with DP Ruto’s allies strongly opposing the move.

However, Orengo has received a back from ODM leader Raila Odinga’s son, Raila Odinga Junior.

Through Twitter on Tuesday, Junior who is the son to ODM party leader Raila Odinga said there was nothing wrong with Orengo wanting to impeach the DP.

“Senior Counsel James Orengo is within his right to bring a motion of no confidence just like any other Kenyan can do,” he said.

The Senate Minority Leader said a Deputy President can be kicked out of office if it’s found that he or she has violated the Constitution or any other law.

Orengo reminded Ruto that the Constitution allows the President to appoint a new deputy president after his removal, with the approval of the National Assembly.

Migori Senator Ochillo Ayacko seconded Orengo’s move to impeach the DP.

He quoted the Constitution that “any person who obstructs justice commits a crime and is liable to be jailed.”
