Man, wives on the run after jointly killing lover

Three people have fled their home after the torture and subsequent slaughter of a lady in Migori.

Police have said they are actively pursuing the trio after body of slain 33-year-old Doreen Akinyi was found dumped in a sugarcane plantation.

The trio are a man and his two wives who are suspected t have committed the crime in Migori County’s Awendo sub-county, Raywer village.

According to the area Assistant Chief Mr. Ezekiel Kokeyo, Ms Akinyi’s body had several wounds on her body, and her legs were amputated.

Preliminary investigations carried out after the incidence show that Ms Akinyi had gone to visit her lover, Osiki Siengo, at his home Sunday evening, when she was attacked by Mr Siengo and his two wives.

It still remains unclear why the the man and his two wives assaulted Ms Akinyi. Residents claims that jealousy by the co-wives might have prompted them into attacking Ms Akinyi before her husband joined in.

Reports indicates that Mr Siengo and Ms Akinyi had been spotted drinking alcohol together at a local bar on Sunday.

Wielding a panga

Mr. Kokeyo says neighbours reported that Mr Siengo, who was wielding a panga during the attack, threatened to harm them if they came to the victim’s rescue.

Ms Akinyi’s body was taken to Rapcom Hospital mortuary.

Awendo OCPD, Mary Musyoka issued a statement saying that the three suspects fled their home and are yet to be arrested.
