Laikipia Women Representative Catherine Waruguru has accused Senate Minority Leader James Orengo of dragging the country behind following the debate on Deputy President William Ruto’s impeachment.

Over the weekend, Orengo said he would use parliament to initiate impeachment motion against Ruto, accusing him of sabotaging development within the country.

“The DP can also be removed for gross misconduct. The threshold for the removal of Deputy President on constitutional grounds is much lower than going through a criminal trial or prosecution,” Orengo said.

But in an interview with KTN News on Tuesday, Waruguru accused Mr Orengo of failing to help Mr Raila Odinga secure any presidential victory, adding that he’s a baggage to the latter’s team.

Further, she said, removal of DP Ruto would be a tall order given Jubilee Party’s majority in both houses. She accuses Orengo of making premature ‘roadside declarations’.

“There are people who have resorted to activism and roadside declarations… their business is one, walking in funerals, doing village politics and targeting people to brand them as corrupt people…if there is any person with enough evidence walk to Karura(DCI)….” she added.

“If James Orengo has not been able to show Baba(Raila) a formula to win an election since time immemorial when he started vying for the presidency, what is this thing he will do to validate his desire to impeach William Ruto using the handshake?” questioned Waruguru.

Mr Odinga has contested presidency four times, claiming victory in three encounters. In 2007, he contested the victory of Mwai Kibaki before the two formed a grand coalition government.
