A female survivor who lost three of her friends to the ill-fated Ethiopian airplane has finally opened up about how she survived the crash by a whisker.
In an interview with a local Tv station, Elizabeth Kabuth revealed that she had a bad feeling about the flight and that her stomach was not quite right and so she decided to dash off to a toilet nearby.
“Just before we got to the boarding gate, I had this funny feeling in my tummy and I thought that it wouldn’t be proper for me to get on to the flight without really getting to understanding what was wrong.
“So I told the three girlfriends I was with to wait for me as I went to the restroom that was just adjacent to the boarding gate,” she narrated.
She further divulged that the friends laughed at her joking about how she was still backward since the plane also had a toilet.
“You know they were all laughing at me and telling me, ‘Liz, this villager in you, why don’t you use the toilet in the plane?’ but I told them I needed some privacy and I needed a place I would feel comfortable,” she continued.
“It was the darkest moment in my life because I kept on thinking, ‘I was with these friends of mine and you mean they are already dead?'” she disclosed.
The deadly airplane crash, which occurred on March 10 this year, claimed the lives of all the 157 people who were on board including 36 Kenyans.
The families of the deceased will, however, wait for six months in order to get results from DNA tests of the crash victims.
