From Nakuru to the World to Ksh 100 million richer the story of the Global Teacher

 Tabichi teaches Maths and Physics at Keriko Secondary School in Nakuru County . He beat other 10,000 applicants from 179 countries across the globe in the contest .

 Uhuru said the award did not only make Kenya proud but was also a big win for the world.

Tabichi has been fated for his good deeds and he was nominated for the award in February 2019 after it emerged that he donated 80% of his pay to keep poor learners at school. “It is an incredible achievement to have been chosen from 10,000 nominations and applications from across the world. We as a people are very, very proud of you. You are a shinning example of that the human spirit can achieve, not just for Kenya, not just for Africa but for the world.

 You chose to teach in a remote part of Kenya and chose to transform lives in such situations, a choice that I am sure was difficult. You believed in those that you served and even gave part you teacher’s pay towards your pupils well being. Because of your sacrifice , all those children who crossed your path are now fulfilling their full potential,” Uhuru said in a speech televised in Dubai from State House

Other leaders like CS Amina Mohammed and DP William Ruto have also celebrated his award President Uhuru Kenyatta has feted Kenyan Teacher Peter Mokaya Tabichi for scooping the Global Teacher Prize 2019.

Tabichi was awarded the KSh 100 million prize in a ceremony convened in Dubai on Sunday, March 24.
