Televangelist David Ngare aka Gakuyo of Ekeza Sacco has moved to court seeking courts protection from police arrest.

In the court papers filed before the Milimani Law Courts, Gakuyo wants the court to temporarily stop Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss George Kinoti from investigating and arresting him over the alleged missing cash.

He claims that Matiang’i directed the Inspector General of Police to investigate and charge him for embezzlement of members cash which he says is illegal.

Ekeza Sacco members stormed and blocked Kiambu Road after delayed Gakuyo case.

“For some time now there has been prolonged litigation between the Commissioner of Cooperative against me, Ekeza Sacco and Gakuyo Real estate which I believe had a political motive,” said Gakuyo.

Gakuyo now says that he is afraid that he will not get a fair trial in court and that the police are acting under pressure from the CS and his political opponents who are also inciting the public against him.

Gakuyo is accused of allegedly embezzling over Ksh.1 billion from members of his Ekeza Sacco to finance his private businesses.
