Real Madrid ready to spend £60.5m for this wonder kid

Real Madrid’s squad overhaul this summer could see them launch a sensational move for Brazilian starlet Reinier Jesus.

Zinedine Zidane sealed a sensational return as Madrid’s manager last week and is believed to have full control over players joining and leaving the club.

The Frenchman is looking to prioritise youth and is keeping tabs on the Flamengo forward, 17, who has previously been linked with Liverpool .

The Sun claim that the Spanish heavyweights are preparing to pay Reinier’s whopping £60.5million buy-out clause to bring him to the Bernabeu.

That fee would smash their club record for a teenager and dwarfs the £39.6m fee they paid the same Brazilian club to sign Vinicius Junior last summer.

However, it is some way short of the £162m transfer of Kylian Mbappe from Monaco to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.

Should Madrid follow through with their reported interest, they would be unable to register the player until next January.

FIFA’s rules prohibit international transfers involving players under the age of 18 whose parents have emigrated for reasons unconnected to football, or if the buying club and the player are based within 50km of a national border.

The only exceptions relate to transfers within the EU or European Economic Area.

Madrid would be able to nail down a pre-contract agreement, like they did with Vinicius, but Reinier would only be able to official sign when he turns 18 on January 19.

The youngster, who has a contract with Rio-based club Flamengo until 2021, has scored one goal in three appearances for Brazil Under 17s.
