Grace Wairimu arrived home drunk, harassed and dunk her 10 years old son in paraffin and set him on fire. She was arraigned in court for and it was heard that she committed the offence on March 15 in Nairobi’s Dandora estate.
She claimed that the boy had failed to finish house chores she had administered to him. Police said Wairimu watched as the boy wailed in pain, prompting neighbours to intervene. The boy was later rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital with burns in the face, chest and back.
Investigation officers sought more time to hold the accused as they seek more evidence, which the court agreed to. The matter will be mentioned on March 28, for plea taking.
