Among  the delegation that accompanied the Head of State to the celebrations is Kenya’s first daughter, Ngina Kenyatta.

In a picture that has surfaced online, Ngina is seen standing closely next to her father, the President, at the VIP dais.

Ngina, who is rarely seen at official events, is presumed to have attended the event since her father is the Guest of Honour.

In his speech he mentioned having quoted former President Nujoma’s words during his inaugural speech, “I would like to state, on this solemn and historic occasion, that our nation blazed the trail to freedom. It has risen to its feet. As from today, we are the masters of this vast land of our ancestors…”

The president also mentioned that he called upon African leaders to pay attention to the dreams and aspirations of our young people by creating a conducive environment for them to flourish.
