EACC recovers million worth of stolen goods

The corruption watchdog agency, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission team has recovered Sh780 million worth of stolen public property in Nakuru and Bomet counties.

EACC chief executive officer Twalib Mbarak and EACC chairman Eliud Wabukala on Thursday held a handover ceremony at a hotel in Nakuru.

In Nakuru county, recovered property included Nakuru Municipality Block valued at Sh150 million and Naivasha Municipal Block valued at Sh490 million.

Recovered property in Naivasha was initially reserved for research by KALRO while Nakuru Municipality Block recovered belonged to the Postal Corporation, which was disrupted.

In Bomet county, EACC recovered Sotik Township Block valued at Sh4.2 million which was initially reserved for the construction of a stadium.

The EACC team said it has taken a proactive approach to prevent corruption.

The anti-graft agency is banking on out-of-court settlements to avoid protracted legal battles.
