Zlatan Ibrahimovic on what Rooney has added to MLS and why he opted to play for Man Utd

Ibra, as he is known is a man of his own caliber and fibre, he does things his own way and is one of the world class footballers.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic admits Wayne Rooney was the perfect signing for the MLS.

The former England and Manchester United captain made the move Stateside to DC United last summer after a year back at boyhood club Everton .

Ibrahimovic, who is now with LA Galaxy, played with Rooney during his final season at Old Trafford.

And he believes Rooney is the sort of figure the MLS should be looking to snare from Europe.

‘It’s good to see Rooney here. We meed more of the big European players coming to Major League Soccer, to spread out the quality, spread out the experience here,” he said.

“Rooney was the right guy to bring. He brings a lot of quality, a lot of experience and he make the game look easy so I’m happy he is here.

“The football is okay it is not Europe but it is progressing. It is developing and I am more than happy to help it.”

Ibrahimovic was lured to Old Trafford by Jose Mourinho and insists there was no other English club in his sights.

“I had the chance to go to Manchester United and if I was going to the Premier League, the only club I would go to is Manchester United so that when I do my thing, not only will England see it, the whole world will see it.

“That’s why I chose United because when you do something at United, not only England sees it, the whole word sees it.

“And I came when I was 35 years old. I said I would take the challenge and I said it would not be easy but I will go and I will show who I am.

“And things went like they went.”
