First Lady Margaret Kenyatta alongside opposition leader Raila Odinga’s wife Ida Odinga are currently at a women’s plenary in New York.
The opposition first lady joined Margaret Kenyatta on her Beyond Zero Campaign event, to discuss matters maternal and child mortality in Kenya towards achieving universal health coverage.
“My clear message is that regardless of our diversity i.e social backgrounds, religious and political affiliations, as women, we must uphold peace and jealously fight to protect it as outlined in the UN statute,” Ida Odinga stated.
The two were also joined by other key women in Kenya’s politics including Former Nairobi Woman Rep Rachel Shebesh, Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs CS Margaret Kobia.
