Ruto vows to Punish Turkana Chief who who faked Death over hunger

Deputy President William Ruto has insisted that no Kenyan has died from the ongoing drought and hunger being witnessed in Turkana County.

The DP termed reports that at least 11 people have died from the hunger pangs as fake news.

‘There is a lot of fake news around what is happening in Kenya. We were told that 11 people have died. That is not true. The chief and the other fellow who fake death, we have taken them in for questioning. These are people who are taking a very serious matter and playing around with it.”

Reports indicate that Kositei Location Chief Jackson Ronei and Kositei Ward Representative Daniel Tuwit were summoned by the county administration for giving the media “wrong’” information.

Silale Ward Representative Nelson Lotela claimed to have the names of more than 17 people who have died of hunger in the area.

He said the latest victim was a 60-year-old man who died on Monday evening in Loruk, on the border of Tiaty and Baringo North sub-counties.

“We wonder why the government is disputing reports that people have died of hunger in Baringo … We have all the records,” he said.
