Reprieve to United as Lukaku’s Injury Extent Revealed

Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku injury update shows that he is expected to return after the international break after being ruled out of Belgium’s upcoming matches.

Manchester United star Lukaku had been in fine form before sustaining an injury before the Red Devils’ FA Cup defeat to Wolves on Saturday night.

The Belgium international had bagged six goals from his previous four outings, with braces against Southampton, Crystal Palace and PSG respectively.

However, Lukaku missed Manchester United’s 2-1 defeat to Wolves with what was, at the time, described as a ‘sore foot’.

However, it is now understood that Lukaku is only likely to be sidelined for a further week.

Belgium chose to let him return to United for treatment despite the 25-year-old previously travelling to link up with Roberto Martinez’s squad.

But that appears to have been a misjudgement.

Lukaku was sent home after undergoing an MRI scan on his injury.

Yet he is now in line to feature when United lock horns with Watford at Old Trafford on March 30.

Meanwhile, Lukaku recently backed Solskjaer to land the United job full-time after flourishing in an interim capacity.

“I know he’s going to stay, there’s no doubt about that,” he told Viasport.

“He wants to stay, the players want him to stay.

“We’re doing really well, we’re playing like Manchester United should play.

“He’s a young coach, he has young players as well so it’s the perfect environment to develop and hopefully win trophies in the future.”
