Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho is man standing on a slippery ground after his fast dwindling 2022 Presidential ambitions suffered yet another fatal blow after losing control of the Mombasa county Assembly.
This came after a majority members of the Mombasa county assembly on Tuesday unanimously came together to pass a vote to impeach the transport and infrastructure Executive Taufiq Balala despite intensive lobbying by the governor against such.
The impeachment motion which was sponsored by Jomvu Kuu MCA Athman Shebe and seconded by Bofu MCA ahmed Salama accused Balala o gross misconduct and incompetence after failing to account for 3 billion shillings allocated to his docket for development projects in the last three years.
The MCAs also promised to serve the same medicine to the county speaker an even Joho himself if he continues with his acts of shielding corrupt individuals.
Out of the 42 MCAs in Mombasa county, only one member Lucy Chizi o Mtpanga stood to defend Joho’s ally against the impeachment.
Joho’s operation dubbed ‘fagia bunge’ which aimed at getting rid of the Rogue MCAs who did not listen to him suffered major setback.
