How DP Ruto’s fake engineer friend was axed.

In his own admission, DP William Ruto narrated an ordeal where his fake engineer friend was busted and axed from the list of certified engineers.

Addressing the 1st Inter-Professional Summit at Shanzu, Mombasa County, Ruto acknowledged that there are countless quacks in the market who pose as professionals.

“The quality of leadership must be evident in one’s work. Like everything else, there are fakes and quacks,” Ruto remarked.

Mugo wa Wairimu

Ruto went ahead and gave the example of the quack doctor Mugo Wa Wairimu, whose activities hit the headlines in the past.

“That fellow who is carrying out all manner of cesarean section (CS) and many other things in some fake hospital somewhere,” he added.

Fake engineer

At this juncture, Ruto went ahead to give his experience with a fake engineer who happened to be a close friend of his.

“We have fake engineers, I remember I had a friend who used  to indicate before his name that he was an engineer.

“Someone from the Board of Engineers wrote him a note ‘Sir, send us your papers so that we can regularize your position as an engineer’,”  he added as the audience burst out in laughter.

Ruto indicated that, henceforth, the friend whom he did not name dropped the ‘Engineer’ tag for good.

“Strong, independent and assertive professionals help to raise the bar and improve the quality of service delivery,” Ruto noted.

The DP further indicated that the Big Four Agenda anticipates professionals’ capability to deliver strong sectoral and overall economic performance.

“We expect professionals to accelerate delivery of strategic interventions in housing, food and nutrition security, health and manufacturing,”
